What a dream to photograph some weddings in New Zealand for the first time this year! I know I am lucky to photograph weddings in destinations like Phuket and Bali but my dream place to photograph a wedding has always been at home in NZ.
I met Liz & Damon in Thames several times before their wedding day and we scouted out some pretty areas of the town to do a first look and bridal party photos before the ceremony in the late afternoon.
I love it when couple’s choose to do a “first look” and see each other before the ceremony, rather than during the traditional walk down the aisle. It’s so romantic and intimate and then there’s all the extra time for photos. You can see how emotional they both were when they saw each other and we had some photos with just the two of them before joining the bridal party.
The couple choose to do the wedding ceremony in Liz’s mum’s garden and the reception at the Rapauru Water Gardens. It was a really nice ceremony with many tears shed and much laughter also. The rain held off until after the ceremony and everyone dashed indoors and the party began ~ wedding & bridal photography by Gina
