I went to Aleenta Resort in Phang Nga (just a little out of Phuket) this week for an update inspection on behalf of some new clients. I’ve been there many times but they have had a revamp of the main restaurant and are building new villas and there is a new wedding planner on the team. Happy to report it’s as lovely as ever, in fact better!

Khun Aida is the new wedding and event planner and she made the move recently from Bangkok where she was already working for Aleenta. She’s so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We are on the same page so I’m very happy to be working with her.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Edge – the restaurant overlooking the ocean. It’s very urban and modern now. Love the trendy decor but still retaining a relaxed feeling. The ocean was roaring that day, typical of this time of year, and you’d be a fool to get in the water. But it’s a nice feeling watching the wildness of nature from the restaurant.

Started with Coriander Salad: Tempura mango crab, green mango, cashew nuts and chill. It was delicious. I just love coriander or cilantro if you call it that. Then had Pad Thai Goong: shrimp, rice noodle, Tamarind sauce, tofu, egg and peanuts. It’s another classic Thai dish but actually I never eat it. Was nice for a change. Beautiful presentation and the food is fresh and prepared to perfection.

And tried a signature dessert – they insisted. It’s a reinterpretation of the classic Thai mango and sticky rice dessert called Khao Niew Mamung. The rice is crunchy and topped with white mousse infused with mango and the combination of light and fluffy with crunch is quite lovely. It’s called Siam Fragrance. Brings back childhood memories Aida says.

And one more thing. They have the most amazing coffee there. The coffee and tea menu, like the wine menu is extensive and unique (ever tried bubblegum coffee)? I love coffee and now I’m ruined because I’ll need to have one every time I go there.

And what is a post without a photo? Here is a photo from Christina & Ben’s beautiful wedding at Aleenta which I’ll be posting soon ~ photo by Jaran.
